Working Model

Our projects are based on sustainable development model, with focus on Economic, Environment and Social development. We work towards the overall growth of society, which in our case means the integrated development of rural areas.

As the pioneer in performing plantation of Pongamia and horticulture crops as a component of NREGA, the company functions as the facilitator of the government in implementing NREGA to the grass root level.

• GLE’s 100 strong employees spread across 1000 panchayats in 8 districts of Bihar extend our reach to the farmers and generate awareness regarding the benefits of plantation under NREGA on both private and government lands
• We also provide quality and certified saplings o from our own nursery to be planted. We also encourage and promote farmers to have their own nurseries
• Our employees continuously monitor the plantation process on the ground both on government lands and private lands
• We also provide material and technical support for planting material to government and farmers
• We have arranged a buy-back scheme of the produce, and also secure forward linkages by partnering with oil and medicine companies for Pongamia and plan to enter into food processing based on our horticulture plantions

Economic Impact
Through the plantations of Pongamia, the farmers are able to utilize their otherwise unused wasteland, and even generate a significant increase of income level from it. The plantation initiative in fact provides a sustained source of income for farmers over the next 50-100 years.
Currently, the plantation has increased the income of labours from Rs. 0 to Rs. 14400/unit in Bihar as monitoring component during first 5 years. As the farmers will also have the right to the produce, their income will increase as fruiting starts, from Rs. 6000/unit from 4th year to Rs. 40000/unit by 8th year till 50 years.

As the pioneer in performing plantation of Pongamia and horticulture crops as a component of NREGA, the company functions as the facilitator of the government in implementing NREGA to the grass root level.

In collaboration with the Government of Bihar, we have devised the following model for ensuring successful implementation of social forestry initiative. 4 families take care of 200 plants (1 unit) on a roaster for 5 years Aged persons, women and handicapped can work as Vanposhaks. This enhances dignity and esteem of such people in the family and diverts productive labour in agricultural activities and other works. The model provides irrigation facility in terms of hand pumps or tube wells along with saplings.Based on the target of planting 50,000 trees per grm panchayat, the project allows an overall expenditure of Rs. 262800 for labor and Rs. 75205 for material and other expenses per 200 trees giving a 77:23 labor : material ratio in every panchayat.
